Program Notes:

Asdfa Uilor - processed zithryan

This piece uses a Max/MSP patch which was made for the zithryan, an instrument created with wood, guitar strings, dowels and piezoelectric contact microphones. The patch uses variable live transposition of the output of the instrument to create accompanying bass and treble lines. The name of the piece has no original meaning prior to the creation of the piece, symbolizing the process by which humans create objects, concepts and ideas and then give them meanings through their uses.
